It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing, after a short illness, of our highly respected and longstanding chairman, Eifion Lloyd Davies.
Originally from North Wales, and a fluent Welsh speaker, Eifion moved to Brynmawr in the early 70s. He was passionately interested in researching local history, particularly in relation to Brynmawr, and generously shared his knowledge with others.
He will be deeply missed by us all and his passing leaves a large gap in the Forum that we will find extremely difficult to fill. Our thoughts are very much with his family at this very sad time.

A few years ago Eifion was involved in presenting a lovely, short film about the Joseph Bailey Trail. It was a Newport Film School project with Peter Watkins-Hughes and his students. It is around 5 mins in length and a nice way to remember Eifion as he shares his knowledge of our local heritage, accompanied by his dog.

Blaenau Gwent and its surrounding area was at the forefront of the industrial revolution in the 19th century. It is a county rich with historic buildings, ancient monuments and important heritage sites, set within a very attractive landscape.
Gwent was the Welsh kingdom founded by Caradoc Freichfras in South Wales. It stretched from the river Rhymney all the way to the river Wye, and it may also have extended east of the river Wye into the Forest of Dean.
The Blaenau are the mountainous uplands of this historic Gwent kingdom.
Blaenau Gwent Heritage Forum includes the history of the Rhymney area (now in Caerphilly Borough) and that of the Blaenafon area (now in Torfaen Borough) as well as the territory between these locations.
The Three Rivers

Blaenau Gwent has three main rivers, the Ebbw Fawr, the Ebbw Fach and the Sirhowy.
This reflective film focuses on these rivers as they flow through the dramatic scenery of the borough, picturing the history and changes they have witnessed over time.
