Exploring and Preserving the Photographic Archive of Blaenau Gwent
Section 1
Tredegar based film company, Cymru Creations, is producing a series of short videos highlighting historical sights and locations across Blaenau Gwent. The films are researched and presented by young volunteers and have proved to be a wonderful way of encouraging locals and visitors to find out more about the rich and varied history of this area. The team are working in conjunction with Tredegar Museum and Gwent Archives. Their research consultant is local historian and Forum member Philip Prosser.
Section 2
Philip Prosser, who has recently celebrated his 80th birthday, has lived in Tredegar for his entire life. His first job was as a plasterer with Tredegar builders, Rees Edwards and subsequently as a tin plate varnisher with the Crown Cork Company.
He is Chairman of Tredegar History and Archive Society of which he has been a member for many years. He also sings in the 1st tenor section of Tredegar Male Orpheus Voice Party. Most days he can be found in Tredegar Museum dealing with acquisitions and providing information on the history of the town in answer to visitors questions. He has produced two books of photographs dealing with the history of Tredegar.
