A 103rd birthday party has been thrown for Ginger Parson, a man believed to be one of the oldest retired miners in the UK. Ron ‘Ginger’ Parsons, from Cwm, near Ebbw Vale, started in the pit just before his 14th birthday and spent 50 years working at the coal face. Former colleagues, family and friends joined Ginger for the birthday celebrations.
